Job summary

Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack, and Hotel is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Team Member in Altoona, IA. Shift is 6am-4pm; pay is $22/hour with daily, weekly, or biweekly pay options.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Keep grounds properly maintained by planting and maintaining grass, trees, flowers, shrubs, etc.
• Responsible for snow removal.
• Assists with barn and dorm maintenance and repairs.
• Keeps all equipment well maintained.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred. Must have a valid Class B driver’s license (CDL with Air Brakes), a safe driving record and must meet company insurance requirements. Previous experience preferred.
• Must pay close attention to detail.
• Must be able to operate various kinds of equipment safely and cautiously.
• Ability to communicate and interact verbally and in writing with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Indoor/Outdoor environment. Smoking environment.
• Must be able to climb and work from a ladder.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds.
• Ability to stand or walk for an 8-hour shift, bend, stoop, and twist.
• Mowing on hills.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and varied hours.
• May have exposure to chemicals.
• Will be on 24-hour call for snow removal during winter months.
