Job summary

Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack, and Hotel in Altoona, IA is hiring a Grounds Maintenance Team Member to care for the property's outdoor spaces. You will plant, mow, trim trees and shrubs, and help maintain grounds to keep the venue looking its best.

The role offers a stable, single-location shift with good work-life balance, strong benefits including an outstanding 401k, and a welcoming team environment. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and handle outdoor/indoor work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must have a valid Class B CDL with Air Brakes and a safe driving record.
• Previous grounds maintenance experience preferred.
• Must be able to climb, work from a ladder, and lift up to 75 lbs.

• Keep grounds maintained: grass, trees, flowers, shrubs, etc.
• Responsible for snow removal.
• Assists with barn and dorm maintenance and repairs.

What you'll be responsible for:

• Keep grounds properly maintained by planting and maintaining grass, trees, flowers, shrubs, etc.


• Responsible for snow removal.


• Assists with barn and dorm maintenance and repairs.


• Keeps all equipment well maintained.

Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have a valid Class B Driver's License (CDL with Air Brakes), a safe driving record, and must meet company insurance requirements. Previous experience preferred. Must pay close attention to detail. Indoor/outdoor work environment. Must be able to climb and work from a ladder. Ability to stand or walk for an 8-hour shift. Mowing on hills. Must be able to operate various kinds of equipment safely and cautiously. Will be on 24-hour call for snow removal during winter months. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and varied hours.
