Job description

Join to apply for the Grounds Maintenance I role at Toledo Public Schools.

Location: Pearson Center
Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., 8 hours, 5 days a week

Primary Job Function

Under general supervision, responsible for maintenance, installations, and repairs of grounds, equipment, and buildings. Ensures safety regulations are followed to maintain a safe, functional, and attractive campus and learning environment.

Qualifications
General Duties

Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the work unit.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Other Characteristics
  • Knowledge of district computer and software programs
  • Skilled in proper operation of related equipment and vehicles
  • Positive customer service attitude
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized
Education and Certification
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to obtain pesticide and fertilizer application license from Ohio Department of Agriculture within one year
  • Completion of Core Steps as per Article 29.08 of the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement, verified by Grounds Foreman
  • Passes Toledo Public Schools skills and physical standards testing
  • Valid driver’s license and meets vehicle fleet insurance criteria
Specific Job-Related Experience
  • At least one year of grounds maintenance experience with tractors, trucks, large power mowers, tree removal, and snow removal equipment (e.g., snow blower, chainsaw, chipper)
  • Proficiency in keyboard and software; willingness to learn district-specific software
