Job description

Join to apply for the Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader role at Beaufort County.

The purpose of this position is to lead and perform maintenance tasks of unskilled or semi-skilled nature, such as cutting grass, loading and unloading dirt, gravel, trash, and other debris, including collection and disposal of refuse. The role works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.

The essential functions, which represent the majority of the work, include:

1. Leading a crew responsible for ground maintenance of County properties.
2. Cutting grass with hand tools or power equipment.
3. Trimming trees and shrubs.
4. Loading and unloading dirt, gravel, and debris.
5. Maintaining and servicing vehicles, equipment, and tools.
6. Performing heavy manual labor for extended periods under unfavorable climatic conditions, including frequent lifting.
7. Picking up all trash in the area and disposing of it properly.
8. Conducting inventory of tools and equipment.
9. Performing related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School graduation or GED equivalent.
• Over one month and up to three months of related experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

• Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
