Job description

The purpose of this position is to lead and perform the maintenance tasks of unskilled or semi-skilled nature: cutting grass, loading, and unloading dirt, gravel, trash, and other debris, including collection and disposal of refuse. This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• Working leader of a crew which provides ground maintenance of County properties.
• Cut grass with hand tools or power equipment.
• Trims trees and shrubs.
• Loads and unloads dirt, gravel, and other debris.
• Cleans, maintains and services vehicles, equipment and tools.
• Performs heavy manual labor for extended periods under some unfavorable climatic conditions, frequent lifting.
• Pick up all trash in the area and disposes of it properly.
• Conducts inventory of tools and equipment.
• Performs related work as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
• Over one month and up to and including three months of related experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
