Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Assistant to support district-wide grounds upkeep and field prep for the 2026/27 year. The role requires physical stamina, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility to work shifts as school needs change.

The candidate will maintain outdoor spaces, perform basic repairs, and use district systems to track work orders. A valid driver’s license is required, with pesticide certification targeted within one year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and good driving record.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work a flexible year-round schedule, including overtime.
• Ability to use maintenance equipment and operate ladders/scaffolds.
• Must be able to obtain pesticide/herbicide certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grass, shrubbery, trees, and plant beds, including fertilizing and herbicide use as needed.
• Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related equipment for safe use.
• Repair and maintain cement, asphalt, turf, fencing, signage, and outdoor structures; include painting.
• Perform snow/ice removal and apply salt for safety.
• Conduct preventive and minor repairs on district vehicles and equipment.
• Assist in cleanliness and general upkeep of assigned areas following procedures.
• Utilize work orders to log labor time, materials, and progress.
• Provide reports on equipment, materials, and work performed when requested.
• Work cooperatively with staff and community members to complete assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
