Job summary

Colonial Heights, City of (VA) seeks a Groundskeeper Assistant (Part-time) to help maintain municipal grounds, fields and facilities. You will operate and care for common grounds equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers and edgers under supervision.

Responsibilities include cutting grass, weed eating, raking leaves, dragging and lining athletic fields, cleaning debris, checking playground equipment for safety and addressing public inquiries.

Qualifications

• No formal education or experience required.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license.

• No formal education or experience required; however, candidates should have knowledge of the use and care of the tools, materials, and equipment used for lawn care maintenance.
• General knowledge, use and care of the tools, materials, and equipment used for lawn care maintenance; and principles of recreation safety and first aid techniques.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Knowledge of safety precaution.
• Successfully pass a criminal background investigation and drug screening
• Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license.

The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting of objects weighing in excess of 74 pounds, moving in areas of difficult or dangerous access.

The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress that require a range of safety and other precautions.
