Health & Welfare: $8.34 – 10.96/hr up to 40 hours per week

Scope of Work:

The Grounds Maintenance – Team Lead serves as a lead worker for assigned Grounds Maintenance positions in addition to performing various labor tasks to maintain the grounds of industrial, commercial, and Fort Carson property.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs lead duties of an assigned shift of Grounds Maintenance.
  • Provides instructions to the Grounds Maintenance.
  • Ensures readiness of Grounds Maintenance and equipment.
  • Services as a liaison between Grounds Maintenance and Supervisor.
  • Cut grass or weeds with a mower, riding or hand, trim hedges and edges around walk, flower beds and wells, using hedge trimmers, weed eaters, clippers and edging tools
  • Tie down equipment and cargo load’s on stake bed trucks and flatbed trailers.
  • Operate hand sweepers for sweeping roads and parking areas, etc.
  • Hand weed pulling, raking, shoveling and mulching landscapes.
  • May drive ATV’s, Kubota’s and other small equipment or tractors.
  • Use hand and arm signals to direct other operators.
  • Utilize weed eater to cut grass or weeds in ditches, ammunition mounds, and berms with high inclines.
  • Frequently lift and carry lawn equipment such as weed eater and edger for long periods of time.
  • Rake, bag and remove leaves and other natural debris.
  • Performs all assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Accurately maintains and updates records to enable quick and efficient retrieval of information.
  • Consistently produces quality products and service.
  • Completes all training within required timeline.
  • Performs all work in a safe and secure manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience and/or training providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the tasks of the position.
  • Some specialized experience preferred and/or formal vocational/technical training.
  • Experience in operating small trucks and grounds equipment.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a high-volume office area and interface in a positive manner with co-workers and the customer.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer’s mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain – side hills and slopes.
  • Duties will require frequent periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, bending, crawling, reaching, and balancing. Physically fit to frequently bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
