Under general supervision, the position involves skilled mowing and landscape work related to the care and upkeep of school district property. Employees in this role can lead work crews and exercise considerable discretion in methods and task priorities. Work areas include grounds maintenance, tree trimming, and related tasks. The goal is to maintain cleanliness, order, and safety of district property.

Essential Functions:

• Respond to internal and external customers courteously and efficiently, representing OCPS positively.
• Lead work crews in landscape projects and tasks.
• Perform grounds maintenance such as mowing, edging, planting, and mulching.
• Maintain records of materials and supplies used.
• Operate district vehicles and various tools and equipment.
• Assist with maintenance and repair tasks within scope of abilities.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of work sites, report hazards, and maintain equipment.
• Respond to emergencies and critical incidents appropriately.
• Stay updated on current technology and attend training as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED, plus three years of landscaping experience demonstrating leadership and physical ability, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Florida Driver’s license and compliance with the district’s Safe Driving Plan.
• Must complete IPCS if hired after August 24, 2009.

Performance Aptitudes include: data review, human interaction, equipment operation, verbal and mathematical skills, reasoning, and situational judgment.

Physical and Environmental Requirements: Moderate physical effort, ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
