Job summary

Collin County Government is seeking a Groundskeeper - Facilities to maintain the exteriors of county facilities, including mowing and edging lawns, transplanting and trimming trees and shrubs. The role reports to the Facilities Technical Coordinator and involves chemical applications and irrigation system work.

The position also requires operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders, trenchers, and sprayers, and performing other duties as assigned within the Facilities team.

Qualifications

• Must have level of education equivalent to four years of high school.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Class C Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Previous experience with various forms of lawn equipment such as weed-eaters is preferred.

Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Groundskeeper - Facilities. A Groundskeepers is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining the exterior of facilities by mowing and edging lawns, and transplanting, cutting and trimming trees, shrubs and ground cover. Work is performed under the direction of the Facilities Technical Coordinator.

Primary Functions

• Appling herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals.
• Installing and maintaining irrigation systems by making necessary repairs to electrical wiring and plumbing and programming digital controllers.
• Performing maintenance duties by operating heavy equipment including backhoes, front-end loaders, as well as tractor-mounted trenchers, tillers, and sprayers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have level of education equivalent to four years of high school.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Class C Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Candidates must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical (POPP), a Functional Physical Capacity Assessment (FPCA), a drug screen, and a background check, when required. Must be able to pass physical fitness test to be eligible for hire.
