Job summary

The National Audubon Society is hiring a Coordinator, Grounds & Maintenance at the John James Audubon Center in Audubon, PA. This full-time role supports daily grounds operations, habitat maintenance, and building systems, ensuring safe, welcoming experiences for visitors and events.

You will manage routine maintenance, coordinate with staff, lead work orders, supervise volunteers as needed, and be available for emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational certificate a plus.
• At least three years of land management experience.
• Knowledge of habitat management and bird/plant identification.
• Ability to operate hand and gasoline-powered tools.
• Experience with basic trades (plumbing, carpentry, electrical).
• Ability to coordinate with staff and engage visitors.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Must have valid driver's license and transportation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds, buildings, equipment, boats, and vehicles.
• Maintain property signage along interior boundaries.
• Create clean, safe environment for visitors and event guests through proactive maintenance.
• Operate and oversee equipment to maintain grass, meadows, forests and trails; plow snow, treat ice, trim trees, and arrange services.
• Maintain habitats for birds and people; suggest habitat projects.
• Coordinate with Visitor Experience Manager to prioritize needs and plan budgeting; maintain inventory and records.
• Respond to emergencies.
• Prepare for storms and perform cleanup/repairs after storms.
• Maintain knowledge of Audubon conservation priorities and plan demonstration projects.
• Participate in Audubon all-staff calls and working groups.
• Suggest solutions to operating challenges.
• Other duties including manual labor.
• Work weekends/evenings as needed.
• Support philanthropy and public funding efforts.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas.
• Maintain safety culture.
