Job summary

Goodwin Living in Alexandria, Virginia, seeks a grounds maintenance professional to perform routine interior and exterior tasks, assist residents with gardening, and support the maintenance team under a senior groundskeeper and supervisor. The role runs Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm, with a pay rate of $25/hr in a nonprofit senior living and healthcare setting.

Responsibilities include hanging fixtures, grounds upkeep, minor repairs, and safety checks on plumbing, electrical systems, and appliances.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in maintenance or similar tasks.
• Knowledge of repairing furniture, blinds, and similar projects.
• Ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, and visitors.
• Familiar with gasoline and electrical motors, wiring, heating, plumbing and refrigeration equipment.
• Education/certification in a maintenance trade or grounds is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hang blinds, curtain rods, drapes, towel racks, pictures, mirrors, shelves, wall lamps and other fittings.
• Assist with daily grounds maintenance and trash removal.
• Assist with leaf removal, power washing, weeding, and trimming trees and hedges.
• Help residents with garden boxes and daily care.
• Make minor repairs; refer major repairs to technicians.
• Inspect plumbing, lights, outlets, appliances, doors, and blinds during turnover and yearly checks.
• Assist in flood clean-up and snow/ice removal.
• Monitor driving records and report incidents to HR or supervisor.
