Job summary

The Woodlands in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain outdoor areas, including lawns, gardens, parking lots, and walkways. This full-time role offers a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM and pay at $20 per hour.

You will operate and maintain landscaping equipment, perform seasonal tasks, monitor for hazards, and may assist other departments across two communities as needed. A valid VA driver's license and reliability are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior landscaping or groundskeeping experience is a plus.
• Ability to operate landscaping tools and machinery safely.
• Basic knowledge of plant care and lawn maintenance.
• Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Valid VA Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, and edge lawns to maintain a neat appearance.
• Plant, water, fertilize, and care for flowers, shrubs, and trees.
• Remove weeds, debris, and litter from grounds and walkways.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.).
• Perform seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow removal, and maintenance.
• Monitor grounds for pests, diseases, or damage and report issues.
• Maintain parking areas, sidewalks, and outdoor facilities in clean and safe condition.
• Assist with minor repairs and general outdoor tasks.
• Ensure safe and proper use of hand and power tools.
• Inspect equipment and tools for safety before use; report malfunctioning equipment immediately.
• Keep work areas clean and safe - do not leave hazardous materials or tools unattended.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Administrator.
• Cross-Departmental Support: may assist in other departments across both communities.
