Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis – Downtown campus is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Custodian to uphold the college’s visual standards by keeping restrooms, hallways, classrooms, and exterior areas clean and well-maintained. This full-time role reports to the Facilities Grounds Coordinator and offers a stable day shift with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Must perform physically demanding tasks, including working on ladders, lifting over 50 lbs repetitively, twisting and bending.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• A valid driver’s license and insurance coverage as required by the College.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general safety inspections of the facilities and grounds.
• Apply herbicides and pesticides as needed.
• Maintain mulch beds across campus by weeding and replacing mulch.
• Plant and care for trees and shrubs in open beds and planters.
• Operate and maintain hand tools and larger grounds equipment.
• Maintain daily record reports and work orders.
• Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal and aeration.
• Provide back up in various areas of the department when needed.
• Assist with event set-up and clean-up throughout the year.
• Load and unload grounds deliveries and equipment as necessary.
