Job summary

Owens Community College is seeking a Groundskeeper/Custodian for the second shift to perform both grounds and custodial work on campus. The role involves seasonal rotation: grounds tasks during warm months and custodial duties during winter, with supervision guiding priorities.

The position requires at least 1 year of grounds and 1 year of custodial experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work in varying weather and with teams. Union participation is noted and pay is hourly.

Qualifications

• Grounds: knowledge of mowing, trimming, mulching, weed control, snow removal and related tools.
• Custodial: knowledge of mops, cleaning chemicals, vacuum cleaners and related equipment.
• Grounds: ability to operate grounds equipment safely in various conditions.
• Custodial: ability to follow instructions and read work orders, work with others.

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance for six months of the year, including mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching and weed control.
• Perform custodial duties for six months of the year, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, bathroom cleaning, event setup/teardown and snow removal as needed.
• Follow supervisor directions and complete tasks as assigned, maintaining safety and quality standards.
