Job summary

Carleton College seeks a Certified Grounds Maintenance / Custodian to care for campus grounds and perform interior cleaning. The role features a union wage with structured progression and a 1.0 FTE schedule.

Typical seasonal hours run Monday–Friday with separate grounds and custodial shifts. Candidates should hold multiple industry certifications and a high school diploma, and be prepared for varied shifts and snow operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school graduate or GED is required.
• Two industry certifications are required as approved by supervisor.
• Certifications include MNLA Certified Professional, pesticide licenses, irrigation tech, arborist credentials.
• Experience with green industry equipment and safety procedures is expected.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve College grounds including turf, landscape plants, walkways, and athletic fields seasonally.
• Operate and maintain related equipment; keep service records and perform basic repairs.
• Assist with snow removal, storm response, and emergencies as needed.
• Perform custodial duties: clean interior, secure doors, manage supplies, and maintain safety.
