Job summary

The Grounds Services Associate at Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond maintains pristine exterior spaces, including the parking deck and sculpture garden. You will perform cleaning, debris removal, and routine upkeep to uphold the museum’s presentation.

You’ll operate light equipment, assist with weather-related tasks, and complete records and timesheets with accuracy, collaborating with the Buildings and Grounds and horticultural teams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods and safety practices.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand long periods.
• Operate light machinery including riding street sweeper and power washer.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Read and follow directions; good verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Patrol parking deck and grounds to maintain appearance.
• Collect and dispose of debris from multiple areas.
• Operate a street sweeper to remove dirt and water.
• Assist horticultural team with yard waste and tidying walkways.
• Respond to weather impacts and de-ice / debris removal.
• Report daily status and suggest improvements.
• Tidy outdoor furniture and check signage.
• Complete paperwork and records on time.
