Job summary

Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska is seeking a Grounds and Building Maintenance Technician to care for tribal facilities, grounds, and public spaces. You will perform inspections, routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and event setup while upholding safety and cleanliness across indoor and outdoor areas.

The role requires basic trade skills, ability to operate equipment, and a valid driver’s license. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with varied duties and community-focused

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in building maintenance, grounds maintenance, construction, landscaping, custodial services, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs of tribal buildings, facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Complete preventative maintenance activities to maximize life and safety of tribal assets.
  • Perform general carpentry, painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, and other basic building repairs.
  • Identify maintenance concerns and report repairs requiring specialized contractors or vendors.
  • Maintain tribal grounds, landscaped areas, roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, recreational areas and outdoor spaces.
  • Perform mowing, trimming, weed control, planting, irrigation monitoring, and seasonal landscaping.
  • Assist with facility setup/breakdown for meetings and community events; move furniture and supplies as needed.
  • Operate and maintain maintenance equipment and tools safely; monitor inventories and assist with ordering.
  • Maintain clean, safe work areas; follow tribal safety policies and PPE usage.
  • Respond to maintenance requests timely and professionally; support emergencies and events.
