Job summary

Pike Electric, LLC is seeking a Groundman to support construction and maintenance of underground electrical distribution systems. You will assist the crew, perform physical labor, and follow strict safety protocols while working outdoors in various conditions.

The role involves travel, potential out-of-state assignments, and on-call rotations, with opportunities to grow into more advanced positions within Pike's grid infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License; able to obtain CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 pounds.
• Work outside normal hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building, repairing, and maintaining underground distribution systems.
• Help install and repair underground facilities and conductors.
• Maintain excavation equipment (backhoes, trenchers, excavators, pulling gear).
• Work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and storms.
• Available for outages, emergencies and on-call rotation.
• Follow safety protocols including PPE and protective equipment.
• Inspect PPE and ensure proper use of PPE.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.

Job description

Position Summary

The Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You will assist your team in building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems. You will report to the Foreman.

Essential Functions

• Perform new construction, maintain and repair underground distribution systems while putting safety first.
• Help install and repair underground facilities, underground conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain excavation equipment to include backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
• Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
• Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Understanding of when to wear personal protective equipment.
• Will perform rigorous physical labor.

Minimum Requirements

• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at constructions job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
