Job summary

Pike Electric, LLC is seeking a Groundman to support our crew in building, maintaining underground electrical distribution systems and responding to outages. You will perform physical labor outdoors, operate and inspect excavation equipment, and follow safety protocols with PPE to protect yourself and teammates.

Travel to out-of-state assignments is possible; candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime to support

Qualifications

• Must be physically able to perform demanding labor.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willing to work outside normal hours, including weekends and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building, repairing, and maintaining underground distribution systems.
• Support installation and repair of underground facilities and conductors.
• Maintain excavation equipment (backhoes, trenchers, excavators, pulling equipment).
• Work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind.
• Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotations.
• Follow safety protocols and PPE guidelines at all times.
• Perform physical labor as required.

Job description

Position Summary

The Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You will assist your team in building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems. You will report to the Foreman.

Essential Functions

• Perform new construction, maintain and repair underground distribution systems while putting safety first.
• Help install and repair underground facilities, underground conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain excavation equipment to include backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
• Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
• Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Understanding of when to wear personal protective equipment.
• Will perform rigorous physical labor.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid Driver's License and able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at constructions job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
