Job summary

SQUAN in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a general laborer to support fiber cable installation projects. You will shovel, reel, and pull cable, work outdoors, and help keep sites safe while assisting traffic control.

This role requires ability to travel, pass DOT, drug test, and background check, and a valid driver’s license. You will use various hand tools and PPE and collaborate with crews to complete tasks efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience operating various hand tools.
• Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and be willing to travel.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening, a DOT check, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor tasks such as shoveling and material handling.
• Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and teammates.
• Assist with traffic control and barrier setup.
• Direct traffic flow according to local DOT guidelines.
• Manually rotate reels and handle fiber optic equipment.
• Prepare work sites and perform outdoor tasks in all weather.

Job description

• Provide general labor skills including but not limited to shoveling, spinning a fiber reel, and pulling cable
• Maintain and promote a safe working environment for yourself and the other members of your team
• Assist with traffic control and barriers
• Direct traffic flow in accordance with local DOT guidelines
• Manually rotating a reel containing fiber optic conduit or other material
• Assist with work site preparations to include shoveling, raking etc.
• Check oil and fuel levels on trucks and equipment
• Manually load and unload materials
• Safely utilize various construction hand tools
• Pull lashing equipment down cable lines to secure wires
• Pull out cable lines and other equipment used in installing cable wires
• Drive truck to/from job locations (with the proper licensing requirements)
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) while working including but not limited to hard hat, reflective vest, and safety goggles
• Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 100lbs
• Ability to work in remote or congested traffic areas
• Willingness to work outdoors in every type of weather
• Ability to work alone or with crews
• Ability to work safely

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in operating various hand tools
• Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, DOT, and background check
• Available for work requiring travel

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED
• 21 years of age or older
• Aerial cable installation experience
• Underground construction experience
• Splicing experience
• Certified Pole Climber
