Job summary

dnata USA at DTW Airport is hiring as Ground Service Agent. Part-time shifts include weekends and holidays with a pay rate of $17.50 per hour. You will guide aircraft to gates, handle baggage/cargo, and operate ground support equipment to support safe, on-time operations.

This role offers cross-training opportunities, a path to leadership, and a chance to grow within a global aviation team. Must be ready to work outdoors and in all weather.

Qualifications

  • A valid state driver’s license and the ability to obtain FAA/Airport authorizations.
  • Ability to pass SIDA airport clearance and all required training tests.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic computer literacy and a willingness to learn new systems and equipment.
  • Reliability, teamwork, and a desire to take on new challenges while building your future in aviation.

Responsibilities

  • Guide inbound and outbound airplanes to gates with precision and situational awareness.
  • Lift, load, unload, and transport passenger bags and cargo to and from aircraft and carts.
  • Drive and operate ground support equipment such as tow tractors and belt loaders.
  • Maintain ramp safety and follow dnata’s procedures for compliance and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with ground personnel and flight crews.
  • Cross-train with other departments to gain broader aviation exposure.
  • Follow all regulations and procedures to support safe operations.
  • Perform duties outdoors in various weather and lift up to 70 pounds.

As part of our Orlando team, you’ll play an essential role in keeping flights safe, on time, and efficient while learning multiple aspects of airport operations through cross-training opportunities that can launch a long-term career in aviation.

You Will
  • Guide inbound and outbound airplanes to and from gates — gaining precision and situational awareness that builds the foundation for future leadership roles.
  • Lift, load, unload, and transport passenger bags and cargo to and from aircraft, carts, dollies, and conveyors — mastering ramp logistics and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
  • Drive and/or operate ground support equipment such as tow tractors, belt loaders, and baggage tugs — building technical proficiency valued across all airport operations functions.
  • Maintain safety and security on the ramp by following dnata’s award-winning safety procedures — developing skills in compliance and operational safety.
  • Communicate efficiently with ground personnel and flight crews — strengthening vital coordination and communication skills.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments — gaining cross-functional exposure to cargo, passenger service, and operations control, preparing you for diverse career paths within dnata.
  • Follow all federal, state, airport, and company regulations and procedures — building a foundation of regulatory knowledge essential for future roles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including opportunities to cross-train in related functions (e.g., cabin cleaning, cargo handling, or passenger services), broadening your experience and advancing your aviation career.
  • Engage in physical activity, including standing, lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling, for extended periods of time.
  • Safely handle up to 70 pounds regularly and ascend/descend jetway stairs while carrying baggage.
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather and around active aircraft and machinery.

As you gain experience and complete cross-training, you’ll have the opportunity to progress into positions such as Lead Agent, Trainer, or Operations Supervisor — or expand your career into dnata’s cargo, passenger service, or flight operations divisions. Many of our leaders began right here on the ramp.

You Have
