Job summary

KBR in Newport, RI is seeking a SATCOM Terminal Systems Engineer to support the architecture, analysis, integration, and oversight of advanced satellite communications systems on ground-mobile terminals. The role requires working knowledge of EHF waveform, TRANSEC, and DoD acquisition processes; active DoD Secret clearance and experience with design reviews and interface control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Systems, or Computer Engineering.
• 5–7 years of relevant defense systems engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of satellite communications and waveform fundamentals.
• Active DoD Secret clearance.
• Experience with formal design reviews (PDR/CDR/TRR) and DoD frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain system requirements allocations for terminal hardware and software.
• Participate in PDR/CDR/TRR design reviews with technical packages.
• Prepare Interface Control Documents for host platform integration.
• Analyze EHF waveform performance and link margins.
• Evaluate TRANSEC compliance with NSA cryptographic interfaces.
• Coordinate with mechanical/antenna teams on integration constraints.
• Plan and run system integration/test activities per MIL-STD-461/810.
• Review subcontractor deliverables for requirements compliance.
• Prepare status reports and brief Government customers.
• Track risks, issues, and IMS updates.
