Job summary

KBR Newport, RI is seeking a SATCOM Terminal Systems Engineer to join the National Security Solutions team. You will contribute to the architecture, integration, and fielding of ground-mobile protected SATCOM terminals on MILSATCOM systems, focusing on EHF waveform, TRANSEC, and system interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a relevant technical discipline.
• 5–7 years of systems engineering experience in defense.
• Working knowledge of SATCOM systems and link performance analysis.
• Familiarity with TRANSEC and NSA-certified interfaces.
• Experience in DoD acquisition requirements analysis and verification.
• Participation in formal design reviews (PDR/CDR/TRR).
• Experience with Interface Control Documents in multi-subcontractor programs.
• Experience supporting system integration and test activities.
• Ability to present technical status to government audiences.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools.
• Active DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop system requirements allocations and traceability for terminal hardware and subsystems.
• Participate in formal design reviews and prepare technical packages and compliance docs.
• Prepare Interface Control Documents for host platform integration.
• Analyze EHF waveform performance and link margins under operational conditions.
• Assist in TRANSEC implementation verification with cryptographic engineers.
• Coordinate with mechanical and antenna teams on integration constraints.
• Support system-level integration and test planning and procedures.
• Evaluate subcontractor deliverables for requirements compliance.
• Prepare technical status reports and government-facing briefings.
• Track risks, issues, and integrate into IMS updates.
