Job summary

Eastern Air Express is seeking a Contract Ground Instructor – Flight Operations (737) in Miami, FL to lead classroom and simulator training under the Flight Operations training manager and Chief Pilot.

You will deliver FAA-compliant training, maintain records, coordinate with external vendors and pilots, and may operate Part 91 flights. Requires 737 type rating and instructional credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or relevant Aviation field preferred.
• Airline Transport Pilot Certificate - Multiengine Land - B737 Type Rating required.
• Flight Instructor Certificate - Aircraft Multi-Engine Land - Instrument Airplane preferred.
• Three (3) or more years of experience in Flight Operations with large turbo jet aircraft.
• International experience preferred.
• Able to travel out of state as needed.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to FAA and Company training programs for delivery and completion of Lesson Plans and events in compliance with 14 CFR and company policies.
• Delivers training for initial, recurrent, hazardous materials, transition, and upgrade ground and simulator events.
• Completes and submits student training records and certifications after each lesson.
• Ensures pilot qualification records are updated so legal daily assignments are made.
• Provides training records to Crew Records to ensure regulatory compliance.
• May operate Part 91 flights to various locations when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.

A. Overview

Eastern Air Express is growing & adding multiple aircraft to the fleet. To support this growth, we are looking for Contract Ground Instructors (classroom and simulator). This position is open to all who are qualified on a contract basis..

B. General

This is a contract position, that will report to the Manager of Flight Operations training with a dotted line report/ work closely with the Chief Pilot.

This position interacts with:

• Captains


• First Officers, and


• External vendors that provide training resources such as simulators, and may at times


• interact with the FAA

The Contract Ground Instructor – Flight Operations is responsible for providing the leadership and oversight necessary to ensure that Captains and First Officers are adequately trained, qualified and competent to perform their duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and Eastern’s performance and safety goals.

C. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adheres to guidance contained in the FAA and Company approved training programs for delivery and completion of the required Lesson Plan and assigned training event in compliance with 14 CFR Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies;


• Utilizes associated classroom, aircraft, and simulator resources and delivers the required training for initial, recurrent, hazardous material, transition, and upgrade ground and simulator events;


• Completes and submits student training records and certifications at the completion of each lesson.


• Ensures pilot qualification records are updated on a timely basis so that the daily assignment of all pilots is legal and so that only qualified flight crews are scheduled for their events in the Company’s Flight Management System;


• Provides student training records to Crew Records in a timely fashion to ensure Eastern’s compliance with Federal Regulatory requirements and the Pilot Record Improvement Act (PRIA) or Pilot Records Database (PRD) if/when applicable;


• May be tasked to operate Part 91 flights to various locations, current and qualified.


• Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed and/or assigned by the Chief Pilot, Manager of Flight Operations Training, or the Director of Operations.

D. Qualifications

• The Contract Ground Instructor – Flight Operations will have detailed knowledge and understanding of the flight operations training requirements for pilots and be 737 qualified;


• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or relevant Aviation field preferred

• Airline Transport Pilot Certificate - Multiengine Land - B737 Type Rating


• Flight Instructor Certificate - Aircraft Multi-Engine Land - Instrument Airplane preferred

• Three (3) or more years of experience working in a Flight Operations environment utilizing large turbo jet aircraft is mandatory; international experience preferred;


• Results-oriented with the ability to balance diverse and dynamic operational requirements;


• Previous experience as an instructor, under Part 121 or Part 135 operations preferred;


• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities will also include: 1. Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; 2. Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills; 3. Strong interpersonal skills; 4. Proficient / Intermediate or better skills in MS PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Office Suite; 5. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; 6. Ability to work under minimal supervision; exercises independent good judgment, appropriate discretion, and takes initiative; 7. Self-motivated and independent problem-solving ability; 8. Ability to travel out of state if needed.
