Job summary

Congruex is seeking a Ground Hand to support construction crews by preparing, moving, and installing materials, tools, and equipment. You will perform manual labor and help maintain safe, efficient job-site operations while developing foundational skills for career progression in line construction.

You'll work with Congruex field teams across outdoor environments, with 0–25% travel potential and hourly, non-exempt compensation including production pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL Class A license and OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• Entry-level construction or utility field experience preferred; outdoor, labor-intensive work a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Linemen with loading, unloading, organizing, and preparing tools, materials, and equipment at job sites.
• Perform manual labor tasks including digging, tamping, brush clearing, truck cleaning, and material movement as directed.
• Support traffic control and maintain safe work zone operations.
• Operate or assist with company vehicles and equipment when required.
• Identify unsafe conditions and follow appropriate corrective actions and safety procedures.
• Support physically demanding construction activities in outdoor environments.

Job Summary

As the Ground Hand you will ultimately be responsible for supporting construction crews by assisting with the preparation, movement, and installation of materials, tools, and equipment. You will perform manual labor and help maintain safe and efficient job site operations while developing foundational skills for career progression in line construction. Your customers are Congruex field construction teams, and you will contribute to project success through teamwork, safety, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities (Including, But Not Limited To)

• Assist Linemen with loading, unloading, organizing, and preparing tools, materials, and equipment at job sites
• Perform manual labor tasks including digging, tamping, brush clearing, truck cleaning, and material movement as directed
• Support traffic control and maintain safe work zone operations
• Operate or assist with company vehicles and equipment when required
• Identify unsafe conditions and follow appropriate corrective actions and safety procedures
• Support physically demanding construction activities in outdoor environments
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license required

Experience

• Entry-level construction or utility field experience preferred
• Experience working in outdoor, labor-intensive environments is a plus

Skills And Abilities

• Ability to take direction and follow instructions from supervisors
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, including verbal, radio, and hand signals
• Ability to identify unsafe conditions and follow established safety procedures
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a self‑motivated approach to work
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift heavy materials

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous utility, telecommunications, or construction field experience
• CDL Class A license
• OSHA 10 certification

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 40-90 lbs.

• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders for extended periods
• Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions and in confined spaces
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call as needed
• Must be able to safely work around heavy equipment and wear all required PPE
