IHA is seeking a tissue-processing technician to prepare tissue for gross pathology and assist with specimen handling. Prepares tissue for gross pathology. Gross pathology involves the dictation of overall description of specimen to include size, the cutting of the specimen, loading specimens into processor to prepare specimen blocks for specimen block cutting staining, and Pathology analysis. Registers patient/specimens, assigning unique numbers to each specimen, and orders tests, which are tied to charges. Processes surgical specimens by a frozen process to quickly prepare specimens for Pathologist analysis for patients during surgery.
