Job summary

Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking a Groomer III to operate snowcats and deliver top-quality grooming on demanding terrain. You will mentor newer team members and maintain a high standard of safety and guest experience.

This role requires 3+ seasons of grooming experience, comfort with extreme terrain, and a team-first mindset. Excellent customer service and reliability are essential for night shifts and variable weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • 3+ seasons of grooming experience, including advanced or technical terrain.
  • Capable of independently grooming demanding terrain including steep or hazard-prone runs.
  • Mentor and model best practices for junior Groomers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections and light servicing of equipment.
  • Successfully groom all assigned runs each night to training level.
  • Mentor and model techniques for Groomer I and II team members.
  • Attend training and safety meetings and communicate with shift leader.

Sugar Bowl Resort is looking for a Groomer III - an experienced, advanced operator ready to take on our most demanding terrain. You’ll operate snowcats to deliver a consistent, uncompromising product for our guests, night after night, while mentoring newer team members along the way. Attention to detail is essential. This role is a great fit for a seasoned groomer looking to take the next step and help raise the bar for the whole team.

What You’ll do:


  • Perform daily inspections and light servicing of equipment

  • Monitor and report equipment condition daily

  • Complete all objectives safely and efficiently

  • Successfully groom all assigned runs each night, to the level appropriate to your training

  • Attend all training and safety meetings, including orientation

  • Maintain open communication with your shift leader and supervisor

  • Cross-train and lend a hand in other departments as needed, building a broader understanding of resort operations

  • Independently groom advanced, steep, or hazard-prone terrain

  • Mentor and model best practices for Groomer I and II team members

  • Assist the Lead Groomer with equipment troubleshooting and quality checks across the fleet

  • Take advantage of opportunities to learn new skills across the resort, supporting a well-rounded, team-first approach to the guest experience.


Physical Requirements:


  • Comfortable sitting for extended periods while operating a snowcat, with frequent climbing on and off the machine

  • Capable of working outdoors in extreme, cold winter weather conditions, often during late evening and early morning hours

  • Able to shovel and clear snow, including heavy, wet snow, as needed

  • Comfortable working in proximity to moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery

  • Manual dexterity for equipment inspection, basic maintenance checks, and machinery operation

  • Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to safely operate machinery and monitor changing weather and trail conditions

  • Steady footing and balance for navigating icy, uneven, or steep terrain on and off equipment
