Job summary

Destination Pet in Chicago is seeking a part-time Groomer to join a fast-paced, caring team. You will groom dogs, trim nails, bathe, and interact with pet parents in a friendly, safety-focused environment.

Flexible Tuesday–Thursday shifts are available. Reliable, compassionate professionals with grooming experience are encouraged to apply; we offer a supportive, inclusive workplace with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Professional grooming experience is required.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and manage large or nervous dogs safely.
• Familiarity with pet behavior, stress signals, and safe handling practices.
• Clear communication with clients, teammates and pets; customer-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Groom dogs based on owner preferences or breed standards.
• Trim nails, clean ears, brush teeth, and tidy the tail end.
• Bathe dogs or work with bathers to prep for grooming.
• Chat with pet parents about grooming needs and coat care.
• Keep station neat, tools sharp, and maintain a professional vibe.
• Assist front desk with pups ready for pickup.

What You’ll Be Doing (Besides Making Dogs Look Fur-bulous):Snipping, shaping, and styling pets based on owner preferences or breed standards.Trimming nails, cleaning ears, brushing teeth, and tidying up the tail end.Bathing dogs (or working with bathers to prep pets for grooming).Chatting with pet parents about grooming needs, coat care, and what’s trending in tails.Keeping your station neat, your tools sharp, and your vibe fresh.Tagging in the front desk when pups are fluffed, puffed, and ready for pickup.Providing a calm, kind, safe experience for every animal in your care.Representing Destination Pet’s values of compassion, quality, and community.Ready to make the world fluffier, one pup at a time?
