Job summary

Destination Pet LLC in La Crosse is seeking a part-time groomer to join our pet-obsessed team. You’ll groom, shape, and style dogs to breed standards, while maintaining a friendly, educational dialogue with owners about coat care and grooming needs.

Expect a weekend schedule (Fri–Sun), with flexible hours and a commission-based earning structure. We provide professional equipment and ongoing education, with opportunities for career growth within the Destination Pet network.

Qualifications

• Proven grooming experience with a wide range of breeds and coat types.
• Strong time management and attention to detail.
• Good communication with clients and teammates.
• Ability to handle animals calmly and safely.

Responsibilities

• Groom, shape, and style pets according to owner preferences or breed standards.
• Trim nails, clean ears, brush teeth, and tidy up the tail area.
• Bathed dogs or coordinate with bathers to prep for grooming.
• Discuss grooming needs and coat care with pet parents.

What You Should Know

Professional grooming experience is required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and manage large or nervous dogs safely. Exposure to fur, cleaning chemicals, wet pups, ahem, “accidents” and unpredictable zoomies is guaranteed. Must be able to work in a physically active environment with heat, cold, water, and noise.

• You love animals and treat each one like they’re your own.

What You’ll Be Doing (Besides Making Dogs Look Fur-bulous)

• Snipping, shaping, and styling pets based on owner preferences or breed standards.
• Trimming nails, cleaning ears, brushing teeth, and tidying up the tail end.
• Bathing dogs (or working with bathers to prep pets for grooming).
• Chatting with pet parents about grooming needs, coat care, and what’s trending in tails.
• Keeping your station neat, your tools sharp, and your vibe fresh.
• Tagging in the front desk when pups are fluffed, puffed, and ready for pickup.
• Providing a calm, kind, safe experience for every animal in your care.
• Representing Destination Pet’s values of compassion, quality, and community.

Part-time grooming position. Shifts Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. Fridays (8am-5pm), Saturdays and Sundays (9am-4pm).
