Job summary

New Seasons Market in Portland, OR is seeking a friendly Grocery Clerk to support daily store operations in the Grocery department. You will assist customers, stock shelves, and help maintain product freshness and appealing displays.

This non-exempt, union-represented position requires reliability, basic math, and adherence to food safety standards. Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet store needs.

Qualifications

• Engages the customer in a friendly manner by seeking opportunities to exceed customer expectations and enhance the customer experience.
• Works a schedule that is informed by the needs of the business and may be subject to change seasonally or due to varying staffing needs.
• Gives and receives feedback in a constructive manner.
• Basic math or computation skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares Grocery department for store opening and closing.
• Assists customers with product selection and shares product knowledge.
• Stocks, rotates and faces products with attention to quality and expiration dates.
• Builds displays and arranges department products to make attractive presentations.
• Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality and communicates issues to management.
