Job summary

Kroger is seeking a customer-focused associate to deliver outstanding service and maintain a safe, clean environment. You will assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals, promote the Customer 1st strategy, and respond to customer questions about products across the department and store.

The role emphasizes knowledge of products, suggestive selling, food safety, and teamwork. Prior retail experience is a plus, and language skills are welcome.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.
• Retail experience is preferred.
• Second language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell by dates and take action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide customers with fresh products they ordered.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers; maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance and notify management of repairs.
• Notify management of accidents and safety risks.
• Report all safety risks and illegal activity.
