Job summary

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that welcomes customers by answering questions about products sold within the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell by dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide fresh products as ordered.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude at all times.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of any repairs needed.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity such as theft or fraud.
