Job summary

Meijer seeks a Grocery Dept Manager for its Commerce, MI store location to lead team engagement and drive operations, training, development and coaching. You will manage recognition, performance, and succession planning while overseeing budgeted P&L and staffing needs to maximize sales and productivity.

You will ensure safety, merchandising and customer service standards, guiding team leaders and front-line staff toward consistent results across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs and gain market share.
• A strong business acumen.
• An innovative attitude to help Meijer set the industry standard.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development with coaching and feedback.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing plans and leadership pipeline strategy.
• Conducts candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, budgeting and P&L responsibilities.
• Drives safety, compliance and store condition management.
• Directs Team Leaders and Leads in daily work and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
