Job summary

Kroger in Antigo, WI seeks an Assistant Department Manager in the Grocery Department to help plan, organize and direct associates while delivering friendly service to customers. You will assist with staffing, training, and scheduling to ensure prompt, courteous service and safe store operations.

You will also use CAO for ordering, manage merchandising, signage and pricing, and help implement company programs. This role requires leadership, adaptability and a focus on safety and integrity.

Qualifications

• Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
• Understand key components of department operations including staffing, merchandising and ordering.
• Knowledge of employment laws and OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in planning, organizing, staffing, training and directing Grocery Department associates.
• Perform production and customer service functions; maximize store sales and profits safely and ethically.
• Respond to customer or associate comments, complaints, requests, accidents and questions professionally.
• Use CAO to manage ordering and balance on hand; ensure proper receipts.
• Price and display merchandise; maintain signage, rotation, freshness and space allocation.
• Engage and counsel associates in merchandising techniques and promotions.
• Support adherence to company policies and dress code; foster a respectful work environment.
• Provide input on budgets, goals and results; communicate with associates and customers.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and floor areas to sanitary standards.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports; manage workloads.
