Kroger Co. in the United States is seeking a capable Grocery Department Associate to assist the Department Manager in organizing work, staffing, training and directing department associates while upholding company values of respect, honesty and safety.

You will support production, customer service and merchandising efforts, ensuring proper pricing, display and signage, and adherence to policies. The role emphasizes teamwork, efficiency and maintaining a safe, welcoming store environment.

Qualifications

• Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and nights as needed.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays when required.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make quick, informed decisions.
• Calm, courteous handling of stressful situations and interactions with customers and associates.
• Experience in production, merchandising and customer service related to selling merchandise.
• Understanding of key department operations (people management, merchandising, CAO, inventory, shrink, scheduling, expenses).
• Knowledge of employment laws and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in organizing work, staffing and training associates for prompt, courteous service.
• Respond to customer or associate comments, complaints and questions professionally.
• Use CAO to order appropriate quantities and track product received and balance on hand.
• Perform and direct pricing and display of merchandise; ensure signage, rotation, freshness and space allocation.
• Engage employees in effective merchandising, customer service, product presentation and promotions.
• Implement company programs and policies; maintain dress code, grooming, sanitation and harassment-free environment.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to leave a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment and facilities in good condition and safe operation.
• Keep floor, shelves and grocery areas clean and sanitary.
• Promote and implement company initiatives to direct reports positively.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workloads.
