Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger at our Oakland store. You will bag groceries, assist customers at checkout, and help keep aisles and parking areas clean while upholding safety and food-handling standards.

Responsibilities include stocking shelves, identifying specials, and guiding customers through store layout. This role emphasizes friendly customer service, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Retail experience is preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Bag groceries at checkout for customers.
• Strive for at least five items in the bag and avoid damage.
• Bag items using reusable, plastic, or paper bags.
• Assist in removing merchandise from bottom of cart for checkout.
• Offer to help customers load bags into their car.
• Perform basic shelf conditioning.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Return merchandise to store shelves.
• Gather carts and return them to designated areas.
• Clean spills and collect trash inside store and parking lot.
• Clean all areas inside and outside of store.
• Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
• Understand store layout, locate products, and perform price checks.
• Adhere to safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Inspect equipment and notify for repairs.
• Create an welcoming environment and answer product questions.
• Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a respectful, nonconfrontational manner.
• Demonstrate honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support for minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
