Job Description: Grocery Clerk

As a Grocery Clerk, you will play a vital role in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Your responsibilities include:

1. Assisting customers by informing them of food specials and recommending grocery items to ensure they find the products they want and need.
2. Checking product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
3. Providing customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products ordered by them.
4. Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
5. Reporting product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
6. Staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
7. Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines, maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keeping temperature logs.
8. Gaining and maintaining product knowledge to respond to questions and make suggestions.
9. Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and making them feel valued.
10. Reinforcing safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management.
11. Practicing preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.
12. Reporting customer or employee accidents to management.
13. Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
14. Managing conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational manner.
15. Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
16. Following directions and seeking assistance to resolve issues.
17. Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
