Responsibilities
- Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get what they want and need.
- Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
- Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products ordered.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
- Gain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions, making suggestions about products.
- Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
