Responsibilities include:
- Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to ensure they get what they want and need.
- Checking product quality for freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
- Providing customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
- Labeling, stocking, and inventory management of department merchandise.
- Reporting product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keeping temperature logs.
- Gaining knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions.
- Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and providing assistance.
- Reinforcing safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Practicing preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
- Reporting customer or employee accidents to management.
- Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Managing conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
- Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Following directions and seeking assistance when needed to resolve issues.
- Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Performing essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
