Responsibilities include:

  • Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to ensure they get what they want and need.
  • Checking product quality for freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
  • Providing customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
  • Labeling, stocking, and inventory management of department merchandise.
  • Reporting product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Staying current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keeping temperature logs.
  • Gaining product knowledge to answer questions and make suggestions.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers by engaging with them about products.
  • Reinforcing safety programs, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management.
  • Practicing preventive maintenance and reporting equipment issues.
  • Reporting customer or employee accidents.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts in a reasonable, non-confrontational manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance when needed.
  • Providing support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
