Responsibilities include:
- Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to ensure they get what they want and need.
- Checking product quality for freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
- Providing customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
- Labeling, stocking, and inventory management of department merchandise.
- Reporting product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Staying current with advertisements and promotions.
- Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keeping temperature logs.
- Gaining product knowledge to answer questions and make suggestions.
- Creating a welcoming environment for customers by engaging with them about products.
- Reinforcing safety programs, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management.
- Practicing preventive maintenance and reporting equipment issues.
- Reporting customer or employee accidents.
- Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Managing conflicts in a reasonable, non-confrontational manner.
- Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Following directions and seeking assistance when needed.
- Providing support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
