Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
- Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and store.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults through direct interaction.
- Perform essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
