Responsibilities include:
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to meet their needs.
- Check product quality, ensure freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
- Provide customers with ordered products, both fresh and non-perishable.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the department manager.
- Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and promotional ads.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
- Develop product knowledge to answer questions and make suggestions.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel valued and appreciated.
- Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and report them.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspect equipment, and report repairs.
- Report customer or employee accidents to management.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
