Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies is hiring a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger in Grants, NM to provide outstanding customer service at checkout and maintain a safe, clean store environment. You will help bag groceries, assist with loading, and communicate specials to shoppers.

You'll follow food safety guidelines, support teammates, and help ensure a welcoming experience for all customers, including minors and seniors, while upholding company values and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Retail experience is preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Bag groceries at checkout for customers.
• Strive to bag at least five items per bag while preventing damage.
• Bag items using reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
• Assist in removing merchandise from the bottom of the cart for checkout.
• Offer to help load bags into customers' cars.
• Perform basic shelf conditioning.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Return merchandise to store shelves.
• Gather shopping carts and return to designated areas.
• Clean spills and pick up trash inside the store and parking lot.
• Clean all areas inside and outside the store.
• Handle and arrange seasonal merchandise.
• Understand store layout, locate products, and perform price checks for cashiers.
• Follow safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions or issues; notify management.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Inspect equipment and notify maintenance of needed repairs.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome by answering questions about products.
• Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a calm, nonconfrontational manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
