Job summary

RW Screw is seeking a Grinding Set Up and Tech in Massillon, OH. This role sets up and maintains grinding equipment, diagnoses routine machine problems, and learns to operate and repair machines under senior guidance.

You will devise methods to set up and machine work pieces and ensure production quality. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of grinding experience, knowledge of infeed, through feed and center grinding, and strong troubleshooting abilities.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of 2 years’ grinding experience, preferably in a job shop environment.
• Understanding of Infeed, Through Feed and Center grinding.
• Knowledge of ISO and TS standards and systems.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities, self-motivated, able to work unsupervised.
• Ability to comprehend blueprints and use applicable measuring devices.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with company personnel and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload parts for machine operation; check controls and safety.
• Set up machine and size parts using micrometers and equipment; evaluate layout and tooling.
• Complete paperwork and record issues; perform hourly checks of equipment.
• General clean-up of working area and machine surfaces.
• Assure maintenance and operation of equipment; perform preventive maintenance and studies.
• Advanced training: train operators in setup and troubleshooting skills.

Job Title: Grinding Set Up and Tech

Job Summary:

Sets up and maintains production quality for grinding equipment, such as infeed, Thru feed and Studer machines. Makes mechanical adjustments and is able to diagnose routine machine problems. Learns to operate and repair machines under the guidance of senior personnel. Devise methods to set-up and machine work pieces.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Load and unload parts for machine operation

- Check all controls pre check and safety of operation.

- Operate using foot/hand controls.

- Load and unload parts using a stand up or sit-down tow motor.

- Slide items onto skids using tow motor, no lifting.

- Post Inspection.

2. Set up Machine/Size Parts by use of Micrometers/Equipment.

- Evaluate job layout and tooling.

- Set up tables, changes wheel and regulate left and right to size specs.

- Determine blades to use and set part by measuring and determine diameters.

- Set program for Operator.

- Make recommendations to improve actual pieces per hour

3. Complete paperwork.

- Complete paperwork any record any issues within the equipment operation.

-Complete hourly checks of equipment using company system.

- Document results to show actual improvements

4. General Clean Up.

- Sweep, mop working area.

-Wipe down machine, tables and remove any oil spots, loose debris.

-Move items <5 #

5. Assure maintenance and operation of equipment:

- Establish and direct timely machine preventative maintenance processes and document

- Perform regular machine capability studies and either perform or arrange for repairs/re-builds

- Understanding of Infeed, Through Feed and Center grinding including Set-Up

- Assure that improvements made continue to exist

- Troubleshoot daily machine operations and work with machine operators to assure production targets planned for are actually achieved

6. Advanced training:

- Train machine operators to maintain equipment

- Train specified machine operators in setup and troubleshooting skills

Physical Requirements: Ability to include but not limited to: grasp, grip, pinch, wrist flex/extension, operate foot controls, sit, stand, reach, bend, stoop, squat, twist, stair climb, balance, push, pull, and carry.
