Curtiss-Wright Steam & Air Solutions (SAS), a business unit of Curtiss-Wright, designs, manufactures, tests and provides - Navy steam turbines and steam valves, nuclear steam turbines, and aftermarket steam parts, upgrades, and overhauls.

Located in Summerville SC, this brand-new state-of-the-art facility is approximately 134,000 square feet dedicated to manufacturing in relations to machining, welding, assembly and quality inspections.

The Opportunity:

As a Grinding/Honing Machinist , you will operate and maintain grinding and honing machines to perform precision finishing on metal parts. This position requires a strong understanding of blueprints, tight tolerances, and quality standards.

Your Challenge:

  • Set up and operate cylindrical, surface, and honing machines to grind metal workpieces to specifications including tolerances within 0.0005”

  • Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and process documentation

  • Inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision instruments

  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot as needed

  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Your Expertise:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus

  • 3+ years of experience operating grinding and/or honing machines

  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and inspection equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing quality work

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods

  • Experience with tight tolerance, high-precision components

  • Familiarity with CNC grinding/honing equipment

  • Must be a Sole US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance
