Job summary

Allied Machine & Engineering in Dover, OH is seeking an experienced Set-Up Finish Walter Grinder operator to join our team. You will set up and run grinders for prototype products, reading blueprints and following established procedures while coordinating with other departments to meet production goals.

You will train initially from 5:00am–5:00pm for about six months, then shift to 5:00pm–5:00am on a 2-2-3 schedule, with safety and quality at the forefront of daily tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Enrollment in or completion of a related apprenticeship program preferred.
• Experience with measuring equipment, micrometers, calipers, contracers, comparators, and manual cameras preferred.
• Experience with offline truing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate grinding machines for special/prototype products using blueprints and existing software.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and resolve issues.
• Access and follow online work instructions.
• Maintain high-quality standards, operational efficiency, and a safe working environment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve machine and programming issues.
• Complete Non-Conformance Reports for quality-related issues.
• Follow inspection plans and use precision tools for quality control.
• Interpret and understand blueprints.
• Plan and adjust production on machines to meet order quotas and customer demand.
• Manage true wheel stacks offline.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
