Job summary

ALLIED MACHINE & ENGINEERING in Dover, OH seeks an experienced Set-up Finish Grinder. You will set up Walter Finish Grind 5-axis grinders on standard and special items, inspect parts with optical comparator and camera, and create part programs from blueprints and data files.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of finish grinding experience, familiarity with micrometers, calipers and dial indicators, and be able to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Apprenticeship program preferred.
• Experience with finish grinding operations preferred.
• Must complete 90-day probation.

Responsibilities

• Operate and Setup Walter Finish Grind 5-axis grinders on standard product and special items.
• Perform complete inspections using an optical comparator, contracer, and camera
• Create part programs on PC stations utilizing blueprints and data files
• Perform wheel truing on all standard wheel sets, online and offline. Establish wheels on machine for truing, build new wheel stacks.
• Troubleshoot quality-related issues on the grinders
• Run production
• Must be able to access all on-line work instructions.
• Follow inspection plan

JOB TITLES REPORTING TO THIS POSITION

ROLE

Set-up the Finish grinders and teach assistant’s how to set them up.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate and Setup Walter Finish Grind 5-axis grinders on standard product and special items.
• Perform complete inspections using an optical comparator, contracer, and camera
• Create part programs on PC stations utilizing blueprints and data files
• Perform wheel truing on all standard wheel sets, online and offline. Establish wheels on machine for truing, build new wheel stacks.
• Troubleshoot quality-related issues on the grinders
• Run production
• The willingness to follow, and provide, instructions and procedures in a cooperative manner
• Low absenteeism/tardiness, as determined by management
• Must be able to access all on-line work instructions.
• Observe and report all areas that need addressed.
• Maintain a high quality level as well as a high rate of efficiency.
• Work in a safe manner at all times.
• Correct reporting of job transactions.
• Fill out NCR for blades that do not meet our quality standards
• Follow inspection plan
• Proper use and care of micrometers and calipers.
• Read and understand blueprints.

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High School Graduate or GED equivalent
• Completed or enrolled in Apprenticeship Program, preferred.

Experience

• One year working knowledge of finish grinding operations, preferred.
• Experience with micrometers, calipers, and dial indicator gauges
• One year of CNC equipment set-up, preferred.
• Must have completed 90-day probationary period. Required
