Job summary

Gage Bilt is a Michigan-based manufacturer of rivet installation tools and accessories. We are seeking a Grinder with hands-on experience who wants to grow with our family-run business.

The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with pay based on experience at $20.00–$24.00 per hour. Overtime may be available after training, depending on business needs.

Qualifications

• Must have basic to advanced grinding experience.
• Experience reading blueprints and using standard measuring tools.
• Knowledge of surface grinding, ID/OD grinding, and wheel dressing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate grinding machines for production and modification of parts.
• Follow process documentation and work instructions.
• Use measuring equipment to verify parts meet blueprint specifications.
• Collaborate with Quality to ensure parts meet requirements.
• Adhere to safety rules and wear PPE.
• Demonstrate dexterity when handling small parts.

As a family-run business since 1956, we have a dedicated team, with some employees having over 30 years of service. As we continue building the next generation of skilled employees, we are looking for a Grinder with hands-on experience who is interested in continuing to develop their skills and grow with our team.

Position Details

• Full-Time
• Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Qualifications

We are considering candidates ranging from lower-level grinders with some hands-on experience to more experienced grinders.

Experience or knowledge in the following areas is preferred:

• Ability to read blueprints
• Surface grinding
• Cast qualifications
• Dressing grinding wheels, including flat and radius
• Understanding of I.D. and O.D. grinding
• Use of standard measuring equipment, including micrometers and bore gauges
• Understanding of different grades and grits of grinding wheels and their appropriate applications
• Understanding of micro finishes and GD&T tolerancing, including concentricity, radii, squareness, roundness, and run-out

Daily Job Responsibilities

• Operate various grinding machines for production and modification of existing parts
• Follow all process documentation and work instructions
• Use standard measuring equipment to ensure parts meet blueprint specifications
• Work with the Quality Department to ensure parts meet requirements
• Follow all safety rules and practices
• Demonstrate good dexterity and hand-eye coordination when handling small parts
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Approximately 1-5 years of experience in relevant grinding applications preferred
• Pay will be based on demonstrated grinding experience and skill level
