Job summary

Moog in Buffalo, NY is hiring a Grind Machinist III for second shift. You will operate precision grinding equipment to produce high‑accuracy components for aerospace and industrial applications, reading blueprints and GD&T drawings with tight tolerances.

You will set up parts, dress wheels, and inspect finished parts using precision测量工具 while maintaining quality and efficiency. A 3,500 sign-on bonus is available for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred; or demonstrated ability to understand and apply written work instructions in English.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a Grind Machinist.
  • Proficiency with measuring equipment (Micrometers, Calipers, Dial Bore Gauges).
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret written work instructions.
  • Ability to select grinding wheels and dress wheels per drawing requirements.
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances to 0.0001 GD&T.

Responsibilities

  • Grind complex parts from blueprints and operation sheets with tight tolerances.
  • Set up and align parts, select wheels, speeds, feeds, and sequence.
  • Dress wheels for form, taper, and unusual shapes.
  • Inspect work using air gages, diatest, profilometers and angle plates.
  • Plan work within a Cell and help solve process issues.
  • Demonstrate self‑management with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain high quality and productivity.

Job Title: Grind Machinist III - 2nd Shift

Reporting To: Performance Leader

Work Schedule: Onsite - Buffalo, NY

In this role, you'll work with advanced manufacturing technologies to produce complex, high-precision components while contributing to innovative solutions for aerospace and industrial customers worldwide. This position is eligible for a $3,500 sign-on bonus. To qualify, candidates must submit their application between July 20, 2026, and November 30, 2026, and is subject to the terms of the bonus agreement.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a Grind Machinist.
  • Proficiency using various measuring equipment, including but not limited to, Micrometers, Calipers, and Dial Bore Gauges.
  • Competency in reading and interpreting blueprints and written work instructions.
  • Ability to select grinding wheels, properly dress the wheel and run production parts according to drawing requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances, down to .0001, associated with the machining of precision parts (GD&T).
Key Responsibilities
  • Work from blueprints, operation sheets and/or verbal instructions.
  • Grind a wide variety of complex parts having either intricate recessing, interim grooving, numerous steps, tapers, unusual contours, to extremely close tolerances and/or a high degree of finish on two or more of the following type grinders: cylindrical, internal, or surface.
  • Perform your own set‑ups, including chucking and aligning of parts having irregular shapes, selecting proper wheels, speeds, feeds, and operating sequence.
  • Dress wheels for form, taper, steps, straight and unusual forms.
  • Perform inspection of all work performed using air gages, diatest, V-blocks, profilometers angle plates, and electronic gauging equipment. Detecting unusual conditions, defective materials, and deviate parts; and recognizing errors in operation sheets.
  • Participate in the planning of work within the Cell and help solve problems occurring within the Cell.
  • Demonstrates strong self‑management and accountability, requiring minimal supervision to achieve objectives.
  • Works independently with limited oversight while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.

Salary Range

Buffalo, NY $32.00-$37.00 Hourly

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region‑specific benefits.
